WASHINGTON: The Port of Jersey has upgraded its control centre systems with the help of Frequentis; the updated operational and stand-by control centres, multiple remote radios, radars and automatic identification systems have all been completed and the agreement for live operations was signed in May, 2016. The port has a 24 hour a day vessel traffic service (VTS) and global maritime distress and safety system (GMDSS) services. Russell Mathew, Coastguard and VTS Manager at the Port of Jersey, said: “Frequentis continued to provide exceptional project management.
“With this fully integrated solution the company provided a product to meet all our specific requirements within a very tight schedule.” Compliant to the IALA V-128 standard, the first vessel traffic service in UK waters shows integration and an open interface, allowing it to interact with neighbouring coastguard services.
