SYDNEY: Port of Newcastle isn’t just a colossus of coal exports; it is also supporting of its local community. Since its inception in mid-2014, the Port’s Community Partnership Program helps local organisations in need of a helping hand with a community event or project. Applications for the next round of funding through the port’s Community Partnership Program are now open, with Port of Newcastle inviting groups to apply by 5pm on Friday April 21. Through the program, the port has given more than $580,000 to educational, environmental welfare, arts and cultural projects.
Port of Newcastle CEO Geoff Crowe said the port was committed to supporting projects that invest in the region’s future and make a measurable difference to the lives of people within the local community. “Our Community Partnerships Program allows us to partner with and support the groups and volunteers that make such a tremendous contribution to our community,” Mr Crowe said.
