Port Qasim handles 69,429 tonnes of cargo in 24 hours

KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at Port Qasim where four ships carrying containers, rice and chemical berthed at the Qasim International Containers Terminal, FAP Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal, respectively.

Meanwhile, four more ships carrying containers and edible oil also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was 65% at the port on Thursday, where seven ships namely Maersk Memphis, CGM Rabelais, Thor Brave, Alam Sayang, Coryus, Aeysenazs and Atlantic Glory are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice and chemicals.

A cargo volume of 69,429 tonnes comprising 32,183 tonnes of imports and 37,246 tonnes of exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,592 containers (TEUs) were handled at the port during the past 24 hours.
