LONDON: Ports of Jersey has taken responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of the Steam Clock, the Treasury Minister has confirmed. The land was transferred to the organisation when it was incorporated last year, however, the clock itself – which is near the western entrance of the Tunnel – was not listed on the transfer of assets and there had been some confusion as to whether Ports or the States were responsible for the maintenance.
Responding to a question from St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft, Treasury Minister Alan Maclean said that there was currently no maintenance work being done other than general upkeep. Senator Maclean added that Ports of Jersey were ‘working on a plan for the site and the Steam Clock’ but that no details had yet been revealed.
