LISBON: The decision to reduce tax on fuel comes after the Socialist government raised the tax on fuel by six cents a litre in February to compensate for dwindling fiscal revenue due to falling oil prices. But with the cost of diesel and unleaded fuel now having risen by almost 13 cents a litre since the beginning of the year, the Socialists have become the first government to lower a fuel tax.
