Portugal stocks lower at close of trade; PSI 20 down 2.17%

LISBON: Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Financials and Telecoms sectors led shares lower. At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 2.17%.

The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 2.14% or 0.0030 points to trade at 0.1430 at the close. Meanwhile, Montepio (LS:MPIO) fell 0.35% or 0.002 points to end at 0.562 and Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) was down 0.55% or 0.0650 points to 11.7150 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which fell 10.78% or 0.0033 points to trade at 0.0273 at the close. Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) declined 2.64% or 0.1760 points to end at 6.5000 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) was down 2.54% or 0.0450 points to 1.7300. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 44 to 3 and 6 ended unchanged. Shares in Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) fell to all time lows; falling 10.78% or 0.0033 to 0.0273. Shares in Montepio (LS:MPIO) fell to all time lows; losing 0.35% or 0.002 to 0.562.

Brent oil for August delivery was down 0.38% or 0.19 to $49.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.49% or 0.24 to hit $48.86 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.66% or 8.05 to trade at $1209.45 a troy ounce. EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1171, while EUR/GBP rose 1.07% to 0.7753. The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.52.
