LISBON: Portugal’s euroAtlantic Airways initiated fleet renewal plans amid growing difficulties in securing additional B767 airframes on the international market.

Speaking to CAPA last week, euroAtlantic’s Commercial Director, Eugenio Fernandes, said that given the B767’s growing rarity, the Portuguese ACMI/charter operator was now looking at potential alternative types. No specific aircraft were mentioned but he did note the B787 would be too great of a step up.

As previously reported by ch-aviation, euroAtlantic’s fleet is now an all-passenger-jet operation involving one B737-800, six B767-300(ER)s, and one B777-200(ER). Fernandes says euroAtlantic hopes to replace its B767s by mid-2019.
