LISBON: Portuguese consumer prices edged 0.1 percent higher in October, slowing down after the previous month’s 0.8 percent jump, as falling fuel costs all but offset higher clothing and footwear prices, data showed on Wednesday.
The National Statistics Institute also said inflation last month clocked 0.6 percent year-on-year compared with a rise of 0.9 percent in September, driven by higher food and beverage prices.
Still, average inflation in the 12 months to October edged up to 0.4 percent from 0.3 percent in September. Analysts in a Reuters survey had expected a monthly increase of 0.2 percent and year-on-year rise of 0.8 percent.
