Post Clearance Audit recovers Rs287.254m in January

KARACHI: Directorate of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Karachi has detected duty/tax evasion and short payment of Rs 287.254 million during the month of January 2017 by various companies and traders.

Sources told Customs Today that the directorate has showed outstanding performance during January 2017 and detected 42 cases involving Rs 287.254 million.

Sources said that Post Clearance Audit detected cases pertaining to short payment of customs duty and sales tax/WHT because of inadmissible concessions; short payment of anti-dumping duty, additional sales tax, FED and income tax.

During the month of January, PCA Karachi served Audit Observations and Contravention Reports on various importers for evading government revenue.

It is necessary to mention here that on the directives of Director Gul Rehman, Deputy Director Sajid Baloch, Appraising Officer Taha Shaikh  made a record performance in this month. Sources said that PCA is using all available resources to recover outstanding amount from defaulters.
