Power generators, bags worth Rs16m impounded

LAHORE: Customs Anti-Smuggling Wing has impounded power generators and ladies bags worth Rs 16 million in two separate raids.

Official sources said that the anti-smuggling wing on a tip-off seized 17 power generators ranging from 50kv to 230kv at a warehouse at Harbanspura.

Sources informed that the owners of the power generators failed to produce documents of the generators to the anti-smuggling scout. They added that the successful raid was conducted under the surveillance of Superintendent Waqar Cheema, Deputy Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joya and Inspector Sajad Bukhari.

Meanwhile, in another raid the anti-smuggling scout confiscated ladies bags of foreign origin worth Rs 6 million at the Sagian Interchange.

The smugglers belonged to Lahore and were attempting to dump the bags into local market.
