ISLAMABAD/DOHA: Claiming that the national power grid will get up to 1,500MW electricity, the Ministry of Water and Power indicated reduced electricity outages in the upcoming summers.
The ministry is working hard to add more electricity into the system and monitoring distribution companies on monthly basis to improve their performance, said officials in the ministry.
Spokesperson of the ministry informed the ministry has not decided to shut 650MW electricity of K-Electric. He said Rs10.54 per unit is being offered for the electricity to be produced with LNG in Punjab. NEPRA has accepted the request for advance tariff, he added, saying it will be implemented for next 30 years.
The assurance was given by Ameer of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamd Al Saani at a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Doha. He said that Qatar will extend every possible cooperation to Pakistan for its development and prosperity. The Punjab chief minister thanked Qatar for providing help to Pakistan to overcome its energy crisis. He hoped that relations between Pakistan and Qatar would be further strengthened with the passage of time.
