ISLAMABAD: The power shortfall in the country increased to 3,550MW as the generation on Friday stood at 14,750 MW against total demand of 18,300 MW at 0900 hours.
According to the daily data, hydel generation stood at 4850 MW and thermal at 9900 MW while wind share remained at 175 MW during the said period.
However, the spokesman of ministry of water and power said six-eight hour power load-shedding was being carried out in urban and rural areas respectively while there was no unannounced loadshedding across the country. Zero load shedding was being observed for industries, he added. He said any local fault due to distribution network on small scale in the severe heat due to overloading might cause local disruption.
However the DISCOS were specially instructed to carry out remedial measures on immediate basis, he added. The spokesman said all the DISCOs have formed special teams to rectify local faults. Areas where the losses were high and theft was rampant were having higher number of loadshedding hours according to the percentage of losses.
He said the Ministry was working hard to ensure scheduled power supply to the consumers despite the heat wave. The Ministry has also urged the consumers to adopt energy conservation measures and avoiding wastage of electricity so that the system continues to provide maximum relief.
