ISLAMABAD: The government has decreased power tariff by Rs 2.06 per unit for all distribution companies under the monthly fuel adjustment plan.
The decision to reduce tariff was taken at the request of the Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA) at a public hearing presided over by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) Chairman Tariq Sadozai.
Reference fuel cost for the month of November was fixed at Rs 7.30 per unit, while the actual cost remained Rs 5.32 per unit. Electricity worth Rs 6.53 billion was sold to the distribution companies. Masses will get relief of Rs 20 billion, however, the lower tariff will not apply to K-electric and domestic consumers using less than 300 units a month as they are already in categories enjoying subsidies.
