KARACHI: The Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) is improving incomes and supporting the poor, especially females by imparting skills and developing linkages to them for the promotion and sale of their products, said women trainees.
The women getting training at a production centre set up at Gharo, district Thatta told the media that such centres were blessing for the poor as the same impart training in embroidery, tailoring and other trades to help them generate incomes for their households.
The PPAF is committed to supporting and promoting social enterprises and entrepreneurship at village and union council levels to protect and promote social, cultural and environmental standards and directly contributing to socio-economic well-being of villagers.
The fund builds the sector through knowledge sharing, mobilises service providers & enablers and certifies material, modules, trainers, facilitating processes and skills improvement of service providers.
The fund adopts three-pronged approach to livelihoods, employment and enterprise development focusing on building local capacities and targeting the ultra-poor households.
It invests in creating platforms to support and spark economic activities with concerted efforts to work with women, youth and persons with disabilities, investing in research, assessments and studies as to link the grassroots realities at policy level.
