ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has decided to increase number of special Eid trains in order to ensure maximum facilities to passengers on Eid-ul-Fitr.

“This year, we are planning to ply additional trains as compared to previous year on Eid-ul-Fitr. For this purpose, a comprehensive advertisement campaign will be launched to inform passengers,” an official in Pakistan Railways Headquarters told APP on Friday.

The administration of the Pakistan Railways was working on the plan and a final decision in this regard would be taken during next week, he added.

Last year, he said, Pakistan Railways had run 14 Eid special trains to accommodate maximum number of passengers, who belonged to far-flung areas and wanted to celebrate Eid with their near and dear ones.

He said that the trains were likely to run from Quetta, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar, adding this move would also enable railways to generate extra income.
