LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has adopted a zero-tolerance policy for province-wide implementation of the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (E-IMS) to ensure transparency and curb tax evasion in the hotels and restaurants sector.

A decision was made during a comprehensive performance review meeting chaired by PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, who reviewed the performance of field formations in achieving tax revenue targets and discussed measures to further strengthen enforcement across the province, here on Friday.

The Chairman directed all field formations to ensure the complete and effective implementation of E-IMS, emphasizing that any negligence or laxity in its enforcement will not be tolerated. He instructed enforcement teams to intensify operations against fake invoices and fraudulent sales reporting across all districts.

He further stated that the PRA will strengthen digital surveillance to identify businesses involved in the manipulation of sales records and tax evasion. To promote transparency and facilitate consumer verification, all hotels and restaurants will be required to display content in original invoices containing complete transaction details and prominently display QR codes at their premises.

Highlighting the importance of expanding the tax net, the Chairman stressed that strengthening the operational capacity of enforcement teams is essential for achieving revenue targets in newly integrated sectors. He reiterated that the effective implementation of E-IMS will play a pivotal role in ensuring transparency and preventing tax fraud.
