PRA, LTBA discuss difficulties faced by taxpayers in filing tax returns

LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority and the Lahore Tax Bar Association have expressed the need for reducing the tax ratio to the level of other provinces, initialize combine returns and simplify tax registration certificate as well as the tax return form.

An LTBA team under its President Qamar-uz-Zman visited the PRA headquarters on Tuesday and discussed the problems faced by taxpayers in registration of tax certificates and comprehension of tax return form.

Zman also stressed the need for reduction in the tax ratio and initiation of combine return so that the taxpayers may not face hardships.

In order to create awareness among the taxpayers LTBA and PRA reach an agreement that both the organizations would jointly hold awareness seminars besides it was decided that initially the tax practitioners would be imparted and trained on newly setup PRA tribunal.

Both PRA and LTBA also reached an agreement to conduct hold seminar after the budget 20171-18. While answering the questions raised by the Members of LTBA Punjab Revenue Authority Chairman Raheal Ahmed Siddiqui vowed to simplify tax return form and reduce rate of tax bring them to the level of other provinces.

The chairman also assured the LTBA not to issue notices to lawyers due to the reason that the matter is in court. The LTBA and PRA also discussed broadening of tax base and bringing in the tax net major groups like Behria and DHA that have huge potential. LTBA General secretary Abdul Majeed and others were also present on the occasion.
