PRA to take action against JI rally food provider for not paying tax

LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has decided to take legal action against catering company that provided food at the three-day rally of Jamaat-e-Islami at Minar-e-Pakistan.

PRA has gird up its loins to receive sales tax from caterer Rafique Tikka for providing food to the participants of the rally in Lahore. As many as 70,000 people participated in the rally.

According to PRA, the caterer earned millions of rupees by serving food to the rally participants, but did not pay sales tax.

PRA has decided to take legal action against the caterer to receive 16 percent sales tax for providing food at the rally. After successive rallies of various political parties, PRA has taken a serious action against the caterers who are not paying tax.

The caterers are earning millions of rupees, but not paying any tax on food or other service. The Punjab Revenue Authority has sent notices to the caterers to get their businesses registered.
