ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) is offering free-of-cost services to all taxpayers for the implementation and integration of digital invoicing systems with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). This commitment was highlighted by Abid Naeem, General Manager at PRAL, during an awareness session held with members of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA).
The move comes as digital invoicing becomes mandatory for all corporate sector taxpayers from June 1, 2025, and for non-corporate members from July 1, 2025.
Mandatory digital integration approaches
Addressing APTMA members, Abid Naeem emphasized the critical need for businesses to adopt technological advancements in their financial operations. He stated that PRAL, acting as a licensed integrator under Rule 150XF of the Sales Tax Rules, 2006, is mandated to provide these integration services free of charge to taxpayers.
Previously, Asad Shafi, Chairman of APTMA North, welcomed the PRAL team and lauded their effort in organizing the awareness session. He referenced Rule 150Q of the Sales Tax Rules, 2006, which requires all taxpayers to electronically integrate their hardware and software used for generating and transmitting electronic invoices through licensed integrators.
Abid Naeem elaborated on PRAL’s role, stating that they provide end-to-end, free-of-cost assistance, including structured implementation and ongoing support for businesses transitioning to digital invoicing. He highlighted that PRAL offers direct integration, managing compliance with regulatory requirements and helping businesses avoid potential penalties. This direct integration, he noted, frees businesses from technical complexities, allowing them to handle compliance more independently.
Driving digital transformation in Pakistan’s financial sector
The General Manager underscored that Pakistan’s financial sector is undergoing a significant digital transformation, driven partly by the FBR’s SRO 69(I)/2025, which introduces new e-invoicing mandates aimed at improving transparency. He explained that the awareness sessions are designed to simplify the transition process by outlining practical steps and addressing concerns from market participants.
Abid Naeem reaffirmed PRAL’s commitment to providing secure, efficient, and compliant digital solutions that empower organizations of all sizes. He stressed that PRAL has consistently championed digital innovation in Pakistan, enabling businesses to seamlessly integrate e-invoicing with their existing ERP systems and workflows. Such seminars, he added, are crucial in addressing common challenges and misconceptions surrounding FBR-compliant invoicing, ultimately helping participants realize the benefits of automation, enhanced visibility, and real-time data analytics.
Asad Shafi of APTMA expressed hope that the training on the new system would provide significant guidance to taxpayers well before the implementation deadlines. He also hoped that such seminars would effectively illustrate how digital invoicing can transform financial operations, streamline processes, and foster a more transparent and efficient system.
