President Dr. Arif Alvi graces FPCCI achievement award ceremony

ISLAMABAD: Engr. Daroo Khan Achakzai , President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) while delivering a welcome address on the occasion of the 7th FPCCI Achievement Awards Ceremony held at President House Islamabad assured that FPCCI will keep pace and extend all possible cooperation and assistance, as a partner to the government in its endeavors to promote socio-economic sector.

The Achievement Award Ceremony was graced by the President of Pakistan Dr. ArifAlvi who awarded 40 gold medal to the different personalities who rendered outstanding services in their respective sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, Engr. Daroo Khan Achakzai emphasized on the need that the government should look into the challenges being faced by the Business Community particularly in discharging their tax liability fearlessly ; boosting exports ; promoting exports ; creating employment opportunities etc., in the country. He said that the economic prosperity of Pakistan lies in the stimulating business activities and added, “We cannot come out of the present crisis until the business community is facilitated by the government”. He highly appreciated that the government has fulfilled its commitment in releasing the long stuck-up refunds claims to the exporters due to which not only the exporters faced the liquidity crunch but export also suffered.

While emphasizing the promotion of export, he suggested that Government and Private Sector have to be partner in exploring new avenues for the export and investment. He also appreciated the initiatives taken by the Government in curbing the corruption as it would enhance the confidence of a common man in general and businessman in particular in the government policies.

He also urged the government that the FPCCI should be considered as partner of the government in utilization of Export Development Fund (EDF) as it is generated from the export proceeds.

He vehemently demanded on ease of doing and cost of doing business as these two elements are instrumental in attracting domestic and foreign investment in Pakistan. He suggested that the government to sit together with FPCCI for making policies in this regard. He also expressed his anxiety on the continuous increase in utility charges resulting hampering in cost of doing business.

The FPCCI 7th Achievement Award function was attended by prominent leaders of the Business Community including Iftikhar Ali Malik, Office Bearers of FPCCI, Formers Presidents of FPCCI, Bureaucrats and Diplomatic Corp members in Pakistan.
