President Moon Jae-in will meet with key business leaders from China at the Blue House on Dec. 4 as part of his efforts to lift China’s prolonged ban on Korean products.
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) told officials of major Korean companies such as Hyundai Motor and SK on Nov. 14 that a dialogue between Korean and Chinese entrepreneurs and high-ranking government officials will be held on Dec. 5.
The high-level dialogue between Korea and China is a channel that was established to support exchanges between political and business leaders of the two countries. President Moon’s visit to China in 2017 led to the formation of the channel. Following the first meeting in Beijing in June 2018, the two sides will have a second meeting in Seoul.
About 20 VIPs from the Chinese business world will attend the meeting, including Zeng Peiyan, chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE). The Chinese delegates will pay a courtesy call on President Moon on Nov. 4 and discuss strengthening economic cooperation between Korea and China with Blue House officials.
Those who consider attending the event from the Korean side include Sung Yoon-mo, minister of trade, industry and energy, Park Yong-man, chairman of the KCCI and the heads of the Hyundai Motor Groups and the SK Group.
