President terms CPEC “fate changer” for entire region

Government to provide high security to Chinese workers: Mamnoon

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday terming the China Pakistan Economic corridor as a “fate changer” for the entire region called for swift implementation of all related projects.

During his exclusive meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President expressed confidence that following his visit the pace of work on the ongoing projects would further speed-up, a statement from the President House said.

President Xi Jinping is on a two-day state visit to Pakistan and addressed a joint sitting of the Parliament, besides inking 51 agreements, most of which relate to projects along the corridor that links Kashgar with Gwadar.

He said that Pakistan and China have multifaceted ties and both the sides were keen to further strengthen these in the days ahead.

He said that Pakistan and China were “Iron Brothers” and their friendship was time-tested, long lasting and enduring in good times and bad. He said strong ties with China were the hall mark of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

He said that the government accorded high priority to the security of Chinese workers in Pakistan and said the government has approved handing over the responsibility for their security to the Special Security Division of the Pakistan Army.

President Mamnoon Hussain said 2015 – the year of Pakistan-China friendship would be celebrated in a befitting manner.
