KARACHI: The Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) received an overwhelming response from Pakistani exhibitors and 70% stalls have already been booked for the second edition of the ‘Made in Pakistan Expo 2014’ to be held in Mumbai, India from August 31 to September 5, 2014.

This single country exhibition aims to providing a platform to Pakistan-based companies for showcasing their products and services to the Indian public and business community. It will also contribute to promoting Pakistan-India economic relations by diversifying the existing trade patterns thus introducing a wide range of quality Pakistani products.

“If all goes well then the event is likely to fetch orders worth more than $600 million exports as compared to $400 million received after the first edition,” said PRGMEA Chairman Arshad Aziz. “Pakistani garments, especially ladies wear and lawn, are in great demand in India and the long-term business deals among the two countries would flourish bilateral trade and give boost to Pakistan’s value-added sector when Indian government removes all hurdles on Pakistan exports.”

‘Made in Pakistan Expo’ is aiming to promote Pakistan’s garments and clothing in India and has been duly endorsed by the ministry of commerce and ministry in Pakistan. PRGMEA has arranged B2C and B2B meetings between Pakistani exhibitors and manufacturers with Indian buyers and trade delegations would also visit India in the sidelines to avail maximum benefit from the event. PRGMEA has acquired 25,000 square feet space in World Trade Centre in Mumbai and it’s expected that more would be booked in the next couple of days.

“It’s time when India should be considered as an opportunity rather than a threat to our industries,” said the chairman.

The inaugural edition of Made in Pakistan Expo Mumbai was held from April 3 to April 7, 2014 in Mumbai.
