LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the provincial government has decided to increase the price of imported wheat by at least Rs100 to keep the price at Rs1,300 per 40kg.
Sharif, presiding over a meeting at CM House, ensured the farmers that the Punjab government would protect their interest. The meeting decided to import at least 0.5 million to 1 million metric ton wheat. He ordered the authorities concerned to first pay the farmers and then take wheat.
According to the sources, the government would buy at least four million metric ton wheat this year.
