Privatization committee considers options for divestment

ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Committee on Privatization in its meeting chaired by Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar considered various options presented by the Privatization Division for divestment of Faisalabad Electric Supply Corporation (FESCO) and TPS Muzaffargarh of Northern Power Generation Company (Ltd).

The Chairman Privatization Commission apprised Minister Dar about the progress achieved in this regard and the timeline for fulfilling the remainder of procedures.

The Finance Minister observed that the Financial Advisors should provide the Government with multiple options with a view to maximizing the gains from these transactions. He also called upon the Chairman Privatization Commission to provide him a regular update on the planned divestment activities and ensure that in all such matters the principles of transparency and accountability were fully observed.

The meeting besides, Chairman Privatization, Mohammad Zubair, Chairman BOI, Miftah Ismail was also attended by senior officials of various Ministers.
