WASHINGTON: The revenue of the Estonian state-owned port company Port of Tallinn decreased by 15% to 94 million euros in 2015 and net profit by 21% to 30.9 million euros in 2015, informs LETA/BNS.
Last year’s keywords are on one hand the decline in the biggest freight group, liquid cargo and the decline in the revenue of icebreaker Botnica, on the other hand the new record level of passenger carriage and the continuing of the construction of four ferries, member of the board of the port company Marko Raid said in a press release.
“Last year we saw record low oil prices and at the same time Russia prefers its own ports for the export of oil, which is why freight carriage decreased by 5.9 million tons to 22.4 million tons,” Raid said.
The carriage of container shipments and mixed cargoes declined, while the carriage of rolling stock and bulk goods increased. In 2015, the company carried 9.8 million passengers which is 220,000 passengers less than a year before.
The company’s supervisory board has agreed with the board’s proposal to adjust retrospectively in the company’s economic report the long-term business forecasts of the Muuga coal terminal and the Saaremaa port. The company also decided to devaluate the company’s assets connected to the Muuga coal terminal by 23 million euros, connected to the Saaremaa port by six million euros and connected to icebreaker Botnica by five million euros.
