Property Tax Bill moved in Balochistan Assembly

QUETTA: The Balochistan Urban Immoveable Property Tax (Amendment) Bill 2015 moved in the session of the Balochistan Assembly.

The assembly session held with Member of Panel of Chairmen, Dr. Ruqayya Saeed Hashmi in chair, here on Tuesday evening.

Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhel presented the Balochistan Urban Immoveable Property Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2015 (Bill No. 05 of 2015). Narrating the objectives and reasons of introducing amendment into the existing property tax act, he said that property tax in Balochistan is levied under the provisions of the Urban Immoveable Property Tax Act 1958.

“The basis for assessment of the tax on individual properties is the annual rental value determined on the basis of estimation by the Excise and Taxation official of the rating area is not transparent,” he said. He further said that the Government of Balochistan in line with the practice in other provinces intends to streamline the assessment process by preparing.

He said that the bill is being presented for consideration and approval of the honorable assembly.
