Proprietor of M/s Azmi Plastic Works moves SHC for protective bail

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted protective bail to suspect namely Danish Ojha son of Muhammad Haroon, proprietor of M/s Azmi Plastic Works, who was booked in a case of sales tax evasion.

On February 01, 2019, a single member bench, comprising Justice Nazir Akbar was hearing the matter. During the hearing, counsel for the accused argued that his client is innocent and falsely implicated in this case, who is ready to face trail, however, he has apprehensions of arrest, and therefore, court may grant him protective bail.

After the hearing, court granted him bail and observed in its order that “without touching the merits of the case, I am inclined to grant protective bail to the applicant/accused Danish Ojha for a period of 7 days from today subject to furnishing solvent surety in the sum of Rs100,000”.

According to the prosecution, accused is nominated in FIR No ST/Azmi Plastic Works/2018-2019-01 lodged at police station, Directorate of I&I IR-FBR in violation of section 2 (37) and violation of section 3, 6, 11, 26 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 and Chapter X of Sales Tax SPL Procedure Rule, 2007 read with Section 14 ibid and other related laws.
