Provinces directed to submit detail of oil, gas royalty’s distribution

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources Tuesday directed all provinces to submit detailed reports with regard to distribution of royalty among oil and gas producing districts.

The committee meeting, chaired by Malik Ihtebar Khan, also directed the provincial secretaries of energy departments to ensure their presence in the next meeting for comprehensive presentations on the royalty issue.

The body asked the provincial energy departments to furnish reports on gas theft incidents and their strategy to prevent them. It expressed concern over absence of representatives of MOL Pakistan, an Oil and Gas exploration company, from the meeting.

The chairman adjourned the meeting, which was attended among others by members National Assembly Muhammad Arshad Khan Leghari, Rana Afzaal Hussain, Mian Tariq Mehmood, Rana Muhammad Ishaq Khan, Rasheed Ahmad Khan, Shahjehan Muneer Magrio, Nawab Ali Wassan, Nasir Khan Khattak and Abdul Waseem besides senior officials of the ministry, its attached departments and provincial energy departments, till next week.
