PRV of Appraisement West starts to scrutinize consignments under “Green Channel”

KARACHI: The Post Release Verification (PRV) section of the Customs Collectorate Appraisement-West is going to start data verification of the consignments which are being cleared through “Green Channel”, it is learnt here.

Sources informed Customs Today that the Collector of Appraisement-West Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi has recently asked the authorities concerned of the PRV section to start verification of the consignments which are being cleared through “Green Channel”.

The sources informed this scribe that the Collector  Appraisement-West asked the additional collector to monitor the scrutiny process of the Goods Declaration by himself and also send a weekly report in this regard.

It is pertinent to mention here that the customs authorities of all three field formation collectorates including Customs Appraisement (West), Customs Appraisement (East) and Customs Port Muhammad Bin Qasim were scrutinize the Goods Declaration and consignments which were fall under “Yellow Channel” and “Red Channel”.

Responding to a query, the sources said that the authorities concerned of Customs Appraisement West have received some reports regarding the misuse of different PCTs and Valuation Rulings in clearance of the consignments under Green Channel.

The sources further said that the process of clearance of the consignments may affect a bid due to the introduction of scrutinize the consignments which are being cleared under Green Channel, although the authorities concerned of Customs Appraisement West have directed the subordinate staff of Post Release Verification section to continue the process of scrutinization of the consignments without any impediment.
