ISLAMABAD: The third consecutive year has witnessed Pakistan Pavilion at Mobile World Congress (MWC) where five IT companies exhibited their products and services developed in Pakistan.
According to Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), the board organized a Pakistan Pavilion to enhance Pakistan’s perception as an emerging destination for mobile apps development and IT services and generated new leads for exhibiting companies.
The MWC is world’s largest gathering for mobile industry being held in mobile world capital Barcelona, Spain between February 27 to March 2.
Around 2,200 exhibitors are at event and visitors count is expected to exceed 100,000 by conclusion of the event.
Five Pakistani IT companies namely Apricot Studio, Evamp & Saanga, Pentaloop, Seronic, and Verscom Technologies are currently exhibiting their products and services at high profile exhibition which is being attended by major telecom operators, vendors, and mobile apps companies from across the globe.
PSEB’s past participation in this event has generated many leads as well as some large deals for some of exhibitors and it is hoped that this year’s participation will generate even better results.
Minister of State for Information Technology, Anusha Rahman also visited Pakistan Pavilion and lauded PSEB’s efforts, saying participation in international exhibitions in strategically important markets was extremely important for marketing Pakistan’s IT expertise and for generating new leads and exports for Pakistan. The minister also received Glomo GSMA Government Leadership Award from GSMA for new telecom policy which was another great achievement for Ministry of IT.
This was second award which Anusha Rahman had received from GSMA in two years, the previous one being Spectrum for Mobile Broadband Award in 2015.
