PSX cheers up at another all-time high closing of 40340.23pts

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange Friday gained 203.30 points to reach another record level of 40340.23 points at closing.

The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 40422.16 points and lowest level of 40136.93 points, with the volume of about 637.59 million shares and value of 16.24 billion. As many as 401 companies were active; of which 267 advanced, 113 declined and 21 remained unchanged.

BO Punjab was the volume leader with 49.06 million shares, adding Rs 1.00 to finish at Rs 10.31. It was followed by Dewan Salman with 48.51 million shares, gaining Rs 0.79 to end at Rs 5.77 and TRG Pak Ltd with 40.46 million shares, adding Rs 1.69 to close at Rs 41.77.

The top three gainers were Rafhan MaizeXD with price per share of 7599 (277), Nestle PakistanXD with price per share of 7600 (200) and Bata (Pak) per share of 4100 (99.95).

The top three losers were Pak TobaccoXD with price per share of 1030 (-29.50), Siemens Pak with price per share of 842 (-20.84) and MithchellsFruit per share of 372.20 (-11.07).

Earlier, the stocks opened keeping bullish note of the previous day and added 116.12 points to reach 40200.99 points level in early trading. Despite shedding some early gains, the PSX remained in positive zone and gained 54.11 points to reach 40138.98 points level till midday.

Earlier, the stocks witnessed a record-breaking opening and reached 40261.67 level after adding 124.74 points in early trading.

On Thursday, the PSX benchmark KSE 100-share Index closed higher by 52.06 points, or 0.13 percent, to 40,136.93 points against 40,084.87 points recorded in the last session. The highest index of the day remained at 40,289.76 points, while the lowest level of the day was recorded at 40,052.87 points. Turnover surged by 67 million shares to 565.88 million shares against 498.46 million shares, trading value decreased to Rs16.19 billion against Rs17.74 billion, while market capitalisation remained flat at Rs8.05 trillion. Of the 443 companies’ active in the session, 214 remained in the positive territory, 213 in the negative zone, while 16 remained unchanged.
