PSX touches another record level of 42849.12pts at closing

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange remained bullish Friday as the benchmark 100-index added 145.13 points to take the tally to another all-time high of 42849.12 points level at closing.

The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 42772.21 points and lowest level of 42203.63 points, with the volume of about 542 million shares and value of Rs 17.83 billion. As many as 412 companies were active; of which 188 advanced, 210 declined and 14 remained unchanged.

PIAC was the volume leader with 59.80 million shares, adding Rs 1.00 to finish at Rs 11.44. It was followed by BoP with 53.33 million shares, shedding Rs 0.54 to end at Rs 19.59 and TRG Pak Ltd with 27.77 million shares, gaining Rs 0.40 to close at Rs 45.20. The top three gainers were Nestle Pakistan with price per share of 8564 (168), Rafhan Maize with price per share of 7895.45 (158.57) and Service Ind Ltd share of 1407.51 (62.28).

The top three losers were Sanofi-Aventis with price per share of 1657.50 (-62.50), Murree Brewery with price per share of 913.26 (-37.79) and Indus Motor Co per share of 1637.77 (-32.33).

Earlier, the stocks opened keeping bullish note and added 131.48 points to reach 42835.47 points level in early trading. The Pakistan Stock Exchange Friday gained another 106 points level to reach 42809.73 points level till midday.

On Thursday, stock market closed at all-time high as it rallied in line with the global markets. The 100-share index gained 500.38 points and closed at of 42,704 points.

Cement sector continued its positive momentum on the back of promising dispatch numbers, which were released by APCMA for the month of Oct-2016. MLCF (up 5.0%) and KOHC (3.7%) were top performers of the aforementioned sector.

Investor interest was seen in the banking sector as it gained to close (up 2.0%) higher from its previous day’s close. Traded volume increased to 560m shares, while traded volume slightly decreased to Rs20b/$191m. BOP and PIAC led the session with total traded volume of 119m shares. Total 431 active companies participated in the session of which 305 closed in green, 119 in red while 7 went unchanged.
