ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has trained Afghan Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (ATRA) and Afghan Ministry of Communication on regulatory issues through a training programme.
The PTA organised the training programme in collaboration with International Telecom Union (ITU) from July 20, to July 23, 2015 at its headquarters, while ITU Regional Office Asia Pacific Advisor Sameer Senior also attended the session.
PTA Chairman Dr Ismail Shah, Dr Yusaf Jamal and Ameena Sohail from Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication awarded certificates to the participants.
During the training, senior officers of PTA as well as Telenor, Mobilink and PMD gave detailed presentations on Pakistan telecom regulation regime and briefed the seven-member delegation about various aspects of law, licensing and service regulations. Afghan participants of training appreciated the rich content of the programme and Pakistani hospitality.
The PTA chairman also briefed the visiting delegation and said that it is an honour for Pakistan to be selected by ITU for imparting training to neighbouring countries. This will be beneficial for both the countries. He said more such events will be organised in future.
