As per a correspondence of Javed Iqbal Qazi Chairman PTAA to the FBR, the last date for documenting of income tax return has been fixed as November 15, 2016 by the FBR.

The Chairman PTAA informed the FBR that due to non proper working of IRIS System on the e-portal, fixation of Audit cases and compliance notices issued by the Additional Commissioners Inland Revenue u/s 122(5A) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 throughout the Pakistan, the tax advisors are not in a position to complete their task of submission of returns by the due date.

The process of fixation of aforesaid cases may be deferred to December, 2016 and afterwards. Moreover due to appearance of some news in media that the date of submission of returns is being extended by the FBR to December 2016 the taxpayers are not attending the chambers of their Tax Practitioners/Tax Advisers. Therefore, it is evident that the target of submission of Maximum Returns by the Taxpayers by the due date of November 15, 2016 may not be achieved. The IRIS System on the e-portal be upgraded so that the facility be availed by everyone in the due course of time.

Taking these factors taking into account, it is requested that the date of submission of Income Tax Returns/Wealth Statements be extended up to December 15, 2016, Javed Iqbal Qazi added.
