PTCL building fire disrupts ATMs, online banking

LAHORE: The fire which broke out in Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) exchange located on Egerton Road on Sunday morning disrupted telecommunication services in the city, causing the losses worth millions of rupees.

The fire damaged internet and mobile service in some areas of the city. The majority of ATM machines went out of order in the city and online banking service got badly affected in the provincial capital. All helplines including Rescue 1122, Edhi and state call centres got disrupted because of the fire.

According to the PTCL authorities, 45,000 telephone lines and 25,000 internet connections were disrupted due to the fire. The PTCL authorities said that it would take three to four days to completely restore the service. The online banking system is still not working properly in the city.
