Punjab collects Rs 35 billion professional tax from 35,000 teachers

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Finance Ministry has collected Rs 35 billion as professional tax from 350,000 government schoolteachers during first four months of the current fiscal year.

According to the details, the government has collected Rs 100 as tax from a teacher in four months.

On the other hand, teacher association has reservations over the imposition of professional tax as it has decided to challenge the decision in the court.

It is important to mention here that Government of Punjab had given acceptance to imposition of professional tax in budget for financial year 2015-16.
