Punjab collects Rs 40.23 million entertainment duty in seven months

LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department collected Rs 40.23 million entertainment duty in first seven months of the fiscal year 2014-15.

The provincial government had imposed the duty on films, TV dramas, theatres and musical concerts.

The Punjab Government had set a target of Rs 84 million for the department in the provincial annual budget of 2014-15. In the first seven months of fiscal year 2014-15 the excise has recovered Rs 40.23 millions which is 1.84 percent less than same period of the fiscal year of 2013-14. Up to end of January 2014.
The department has achieved 50 percent of the target but in seven months of the year. New recoveries are expected in coming months as number of events will be organized in Lahore and other cities of the Punjab. Excise and Taxation Department is hopeful to achieve the target of entertainment duty.
