Punjab excise sacks seven officials on corruption charges

LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department has sacked seven employees on corruption charges as the department is up in arms to get rid of black sheep.

According to sources, disciplinary committee of the department is investigating against officers, clerks and other staff members of the department in which seven have been sacked due to their involvement in corruption.

According to statistics for the period from January 2015 to February 2016 released by the department, seven employees, who were working in the capacity from junior clerks to assistant excise and taxation officers, have been sent home on pre-mature retirement.

A director, an ETO and a lower grade employee, have been suspended in Multan region for their alleged involvement in allotting trucks and motorcycles number plates against cancelled series.

Meanwhile, according Punjab Discipline and Ehtisab Act 2006, proceedings have been initiated against six more employees including five excise and taxation officers and a data entry operator which will be concluded soon.

On other hand, annual increment of 24 employees, including 15 inspectors and a junior official, has been suspended while 26 personnel have been transferred.
