LAHORE: Punjab Provincial Minister for Industry, Trade & Investment, Ch. Muhammad Shafique has said that strict action will be taken against shopkeepers on not decreasing the prices of ghee and oil.
He asked people to inform the concerned DCO or AC about the shopkeepers not selling ghee and oil by reducing Rs. 15 per kg/liter.
In a statement, Shafique said that despite substantial decrease up to 18 percent in the price of palm oil in international market, anti-social elements were not reducing prices in domestic market to earn profits.
Minister said that Punjab government issued orders of reducing Rs. 15 per kg/liter in the prices of banaspati ghee and vegetable oil under Section 3 of Price Control and Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act 1977 which will be applicable immediately. Imprisonment up to three years and a fine up to Rs. 0.1million can be imposed on violation, he added.
