Punjab govt asks excise to make audit of property tax collection

MULTAN: The Excise and Taxation Department Multan has decided to conduct audit of property tax collection from third party to check transparency during the fiscal year 2014-15.

According to the details, Punjab government has issued the notification to all divisions of Excise and Taxation comes in the Punjab to verify their tax collection in outgoing year including Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Faisalabad.

All the divisions in the Punjab have been informed through notification for the audit of their tax recovery during economic year 2014-15. Sources told Customs Today that the purpose of third party audit was evaluate their tax collection and target.

Excise and Taxation Multan has achieved its 100 percent target set by the Directorate of Excise and Taxation.

Now an audit from a reputable firm for the property tax collection will be held to verify the property tax collection of various divisions to find out the actual figures.

The audit will be conducted in those divisions where the revenue collection target has been achieved during the fiscal year 2014-15.

Tax collection of Multan remained 100 percent, Faisalabad 88 percent, Rawalpindi 98 percent, Sahiwal 100 percent, Dera Ghazi Khan 104 percent and Lahore 98 percent.
