Punjab govt decides to launch crackdown against tax evaders

SIALKOT: Executive District Officer (EDO) for Finance Shuja Qutab Bhatti has said that the government has decided to start a crackdown against those who have failed to pay taxes despite receiving notices from the department concerned.

Bhatti said that “if tax evaders do not pay their outstanding property and professional taxes, the government will take stern action against them.” He added that the Punjab government will not spare tax evaders.

He added that the Excise and Taxation Department has been instructed to seal the properties and business centres of the tax evaders in order to recover taxes.

He also suggested that taxpayers should pay their liabilities on to avoid any legal actions against them, adding that taxes pay crucial role in development of the country.
