Punjab govt increases land transfer fee and stamp duty by 4-16% in Gujranwala Division

SIALKOT: The Punjab government has announced 4 to 16 percent increase in land transfer fee and stamp duty in Gujranwala Division’s all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.

According to the senior officials in revenue department, the government has directed the officials to chalk out a new action plan to ensure the 100 percent recovery of the revenue taxes, land transfer fee and stamp duty with this fresh 4 to 16 percent increase.

Officials added that the provincial government had set the target of Rs. 1.36 billion in shape of land transfer fees and stamp duty for Gujranwala during the fiscal year 2014-2015, while the department is facing problem in achieving the target.

On the other hand, government has increased the revenue target for the regions and assigned new target of Rs 1.48 million.

Special teams were striving to ensure the achieving of this new target, the senior official added.
