Punjab govt lauded for announcing women rights bills

LAHORE: Potohar Organisation for Development Advocacy (PODA) Executive Director Sameena Nazir, lauding the announcement of five legal reforms, said that this is a very positive development that will help protect women rights in Pakistan.

Sameena said that the PODA has shared this news with the women in rural areas and they also appreciate these reforms. She said, “We are hopeful that these changes will strengthen women’s rights to inheritance, prohibit child marriage, ensure written consent of first wife for second marriage, ensure compulsory registration of marriages with proper administering of Nikah form and facilitate improvements to make Family Courts more efficient.”
