Punjab govt launches e-stamp papers from 1st July,2015

LAHORE: In order to check fraud and irregularities in property business Punjab government today launched e-stamp paper with the cooperation of Punjab Information Technology Board for eliminating sale and purchase of fake stamp papers and their online verification would be possible through mobile phone or internet.

From 1st July, 2015 with the start of the new fiscal year of 2015-16 new project of online e-stamp paper has also started. Initially this facility is available for the citizens of Lahore but in future it will be available for whole Punjab province. This project will be completed in next three years.

This step will be supportive to control the bogus stamp papers. Through this process, the citizens will feed data online and system will provide them a specific code. Credit cards will be accepted for the paper payment and specific bank challan will be issued after the completion of data feeding by the users. Data of both the buyer and seller will be available in the paper.

Indian state Karnataka started e-stamp paper in 2006. It was a successful experience that helped the state in controlling fake stamp papers and deal with the mafias.

After starting of this e-tamp paper, sale and purchase of land will be easy and land mafia will be curbed. The Punjab government already has computerized its land record. Punjab citizens are facilitated to get their land record in 15 minutes without any charges.

This project will provide facility to the women who face difficulties in getting their inherited property. Their problems will be solved within 30 days.
