Punjab govt restores Cutlery Institute Wazirabad after four years

SIALKOT: The Punjab government has restored and revived the Cutlery Institute of Pakistan after its four-year long closure at Wazirabad, which would restart regular functioning in April 01, 2017 under the joint supervision of Punjab Skill Development Fund (PSDF) and All Pakistan Cutlery Association.

In 2001, the government had established this Cutlery Institute at Wazirabad with total cost of Rs.120 million for developing the cutlery industry in Wazirabad and Sialkot sixteen years ago. But, it was closed down by the government due to the lacked proper mechanism for running this institute.

According to the details, the Punjab Skill Development Fund (PSDF) held detailed negotiations with the All Pakistan Cutlery Association and restored/ revived Cutlery Institute of Pakistan

Incharge Development Programme Punjab Skill Development Fund (PSDF) Sehar Nadeem and Chairman All Pakistan Cutlery Association Muhammad Kamran Bhutta signed an agreement, in this regard.

She said that the PSDF has also released a special grant of Rs. 5.6 million to the affairs of this Institute amicably , where the PSDF would also start short term training courses  of computer designing, polishing and manufacturing, besides, giving Rs.1500 stipend to every participating student on monthly basis as well…#
