Punjab govt urges Excise Dept to compile record of drug dealers

LAHORE: The Punjab government has ordered the Excise and Taxation Department to compile record of activities of drug dealers and the producers of fake alcohol in the province.

In this regard, the government has directed all the divisional directors to take steps. The provincial government is taking measures to curb drug trafficking and has formed a special committee to establish excise police stations in four divisions of Punjab.

Excise Director Akram Ashraf Gondal has ordered the divisional directors to launch a crackdown on criminals and to establish record of drug dealers and manufacturers of the fake liquor.

He has formed six committees in Lahore under the supervision of Excise and Taxation Officer Lateef Anjum. The teams will compile record of drug sellers and manufacturers of hoax alcohol in Lahore and will report to ETO daily.
