Punjab re-names ‘Shahrah-e-Aiwan-e-Tijarat’ on LCCI demand

LAHORE: The Punjab government has re-named Shahrah–e–Aiwan–e–Tijarat, Lahore as “Shahrah-e-Aiwan-e-Sanat-o-Tijrat” to honor the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Consequent upon fulfillment of all codal formalities as required under Rule-9 of the Punjab local Councils (Road & Street) Rules, 1981 and in exercise of powers conferred under Rule ibid, the Government of the Punjab government has allowed to rename this road.

LCCI President Ijaz Ahmed Mumtaz said that renaming of Shara-e-aiwan-e-Tijarat as Shara-e-Aiwan-e-Sanat-o-Tijrat” was a big achievement of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry and credit goes to the LCCI former president Shahzada Alam Monnoo (late).

He said that soon after assuming the charge as president of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry on October 01, 2014, he went to meet Shahzada Alam Monnoo who pointed out incorrect name of this road.

He said that while taking prompt action after intimation of Shahzada Alam Monnoo (late) the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry contacted the Punjab government and proposed renaming of Shara-e-Aiwan-e-Tijarat, Lahore as “Shara-e-Aiwan-e-Sanat-o-Tijrat”.

LCCI president paid rich tributes to the Punjab government for taking who honored the LCCI proposal and change the name of this road that has a vital importance as far as trade and industry is concerned.
