Punjab Revenue Authority performs better than previous year

LAHORE: A spokesman of Punjab Revenue Authority said that authority is already working efficiently in regards of tax awareness and collection. He said that the performance of PRA steady and remarkable as compared with past year..

Giving a comparison from different sectors with respect to revenue collection for the months of July and August 2015 as compared to the performance of PRA for the same two months of 2014, the spokesman said that in banking / non-banking/ insurance sector, PRA outperformed its previous performance as the collection for July 2014 was Rs 588.648 million which increased to the level of Rs 641.717 million, showing 9.02 percent increase.

Similarly, in August 2015, collection increased to Rs 899.939 million from Rs 794.301 depicting 13.30 percent gain. The withholding agent sector saw a boom as it increased to 129.38 percent during July 2015 in comparison of July 2014 and the month of August 2015 also noticed an increase of 153.76 percent as compared to August 2014.

The spokesman further said, collection from security agencies is remarkable as it increased to 20.82 percent and 43.46 percent for July and August 2015, respectively. The gain in construction services sector shown exceptional increase to the level of 324.55 percent and 263.30 percent during July and August 2015 respectively, in comparison to the same months during 2014.

The spokesman giving further details of remarkable development in regards of revenue collection particularly with reference to July and August 2015 in comparison with July and August 2014 informed that restaurant sector (July, August 2015 ; 13.60%, 12.48%), courier services (July, August 2015 ; 6.60%, 9.99%), technical scientific and engineering consultant including technical inspection and certification services (July, August 2015 ; 27.11%), hotels (July, August 2015 ; 50.91%), franchise services  (July, August 2015 ; 14.79%), mining services (July, August 2015 ; 75.58%), manpower recruitment agents (July, August 2015 ; 188.17%, 795.20%), software or IT based system development consultants (July, August 2015 ; 180.39%, 137.71%), business support services (July, August 2015 ; 4.99%, 36.48%), customs agents (July, August 2015 ; 17.02%, 26.55%), toll manufacturing (July, August 2015 ; 2.85%, 384.65%), port operators, airport operators, airport ground services providers and terminal operators (July, August 2015 ; 38.42%, 26.37%), and other services (July, August 2015 ; 140.61%, 110.78%). Punjab Revenue Authority aims to excel as an organization by performing brilliantly through achieving the set goals of revenue collection and even a step ahead, the spokesman concluded.
