The department acknowledged the potential delay of up to a month in processing physical cards, attributing this to issues in the tendering process.

The department assures the public that it is working to expedite the process and is exploring alternative solutions, including virtual smart cards.

In this regard, the department has submitted a formal request to the provincial government for approval to implement the virtual smart card scheme.

Once approved, vehicle owners will be able to obtain their virtual smart cards online by completing the required registration procedures.

These cards can be easily downloaded from the excise department’s official website.

The virtual smart cards will contain all the same information as physical cards, including the vehicle’s registration number, owner’s information, and vehicle details.
